Selection Guide for Curtain Wall Sealant
Curtain wall joints bear dual loads of wind pressure and thermal stress. Structural bonding (such as glass-aluminum frame) must use silicone structural adhesive that complies with GB 16776, with a tensile strength of ≥0.6MPa and a tear strength of ≥4.8N/mm; weather-resistant sealing (such as stone joints) must pass the ASTM C920 standard, with a displacement capacity of ≥±35%.
A super high-rise project caused leakage due to the misuse of acrylic adhesive: after testing, the bonding failed after 300 thermal cycles, while the strength retention rate of qualified silicone adhesive after 5000 hours of QUV aging reached 85%. Construction iron rule: joint width ≥6mm, depth-to-width ratio 1:2, double-sided primer coating to improve adhesion.
