Potential impact of alcohol-based silicone glue (de-alcoholized type) on polycarbonate (PC)
Potential impact of alcohol-based silicone glue (de-alcoholized type) on polycarbonate (PC)
Short-term exposure risk (construction period):
Uncured colloid or volatile alcohol vapor contacting the PC surface may cause:
Stress cracking (especially in weak parts of PC or internal stress areas).
Surface fogging/whitening (alcohols dissolve the PC surface and destroy optical transparency).
Long-term risk:
If the colloid is not completely cured or continuously releases trace amounts of alcohol, it may slowly deteriorate the PC (toughness decreases, yellowing accelerates).
