Curing and Maintenance of Neutral Silicone Sealant
Curing and Maintenance of Neutral Silicone Sealant
Touch-free Time: A skin (non-tacky) will form on the surface of the sealant, typically within 30 minutes to 2 hours after application (subject to temperature, humidity, and adhesive layer thickness). At this point, the sealant is essentially set, but the interior is still uncured and cannot be exposed to stress or water.
Curing Time: The sealant takes time to fully cure from the surface inward.
Initial Cure: This typically takes approximately 24 hours. At this point, the sealant has developed a certain strength and elasticity, allowing it to withstand minor movement, but it has not yet reached its final properties.
Full Cure: Achieving final physical properties (such as maximum strength, elasticity, and weather resistance) may take 7 days or even longer (especially in low-temperature or high-humidity environments). The thicker the adhesive layer, the longer the full cure time. Avoid subjecting the joint to excessive movement, pressure, or prolonged water immersion until it is fully cured.
Curation: During the curing period, maintain good ventilation and avoid contact, scratching, or contamination.
