Key Considerations for MS Sealant

Key Considerations for MS Sealant
Substrate Compatibility Testing: When first using on a specific substrate (such as aluminum-plastic panel, ABS plastic, or marble), apply a small amount of sealant to a hidden area. After curing for 24 hours, test the bond strength (no debonding when pulled) to avoid chemical reactions between the substrate and the sealant.
Avoid Mixing with Other Adhesives: MS sealant should not be mixed with silicone or polyurethane adhesives (chemical incompatibility will result in curing failure). If replacing old sealant, thoroughly remove any remaining adhesive.
Environmental Control: The ambient temperature during application should be ≥5°C (below 5°C, the sealant will thicken, making application difficult and curing slow). Avoid applying sealant outdoors in rainy or foggy conditions (moisture will affect adhesion).
Tool Cleaning: After application, uncured sealant can be immediately removed with an alcohol wipe. Cured sealant should be removed with a utility knife (do not use solvents; MS sealant is highly solvent-resistant).
Shelf Life and Storage: Unopened MS sealant should be stored in a cool, dry place between 5°C and 30°C, away from direct sunlight or high temperatures (over 100°C). 35°C will cause the glue to solidify prematurely). The shelf life is generally 12 months (refer to the product packaging label), and it must be used within 24 hours after opening.
