How to use MS sealant
MS sealant (silane-modified polyether sealant) is a high-performance sealing material that combines the weather resistance of silicone sealant with the adhesive properties of polyurethane sealant. It is widely used in construction, automotive, and home improvement applications. Its use follows the core process of “surface preparation → application preparation → application → curing and maintenance.” The following are detailed steps and precautions:
Pre-use Preparation: Identify the intended application and tools.
Confirm the applicable scope (to avoid misuse).
MS sealant is suitable for non-structural sealing applications. Common applications include:
Construction: caulking gaps between door and window frames, glass curtain wall joints, and stone/tile caulking;
Home Improvement: caulking gaps between kitchen countertops and walls, sealing bathroom fixtures, and sealing wooden door frames;
Industrial: caulking joints in automotive bodies and equipment casings (non-high-temperature components, generally temperature-resistant between -40°C and 120°C).
Unsuitable Applications: Areas subject to prolonged submersion in water (such as fish tank joints), areas exposed to direct high temperatures (such as oven door gaps), and bonding load-bearing structures (such as concrete joints).
