Key storage principles for PU foam: Keep in a cool, dry place at a constant temperature, away from light, and store upright.
Temperature:
Optimum storage temperature: Typically between 5°C and 25°C (check the product label for details).
Avoid high temperatures: Never store in environments exceeding 50°C (such as in a car exposed to direct sunlight, near a heater, or in a boiler room). High temperatures can cause a sudden increase in pressure within the can, posing a risk of explosion and premature reaction and deterioration of the material.
Avoid low temperatures/freezing: Temperatures below 5°C (especially freezing) can increase the viscosity of the material within the can, potentially changing its chemical composition, affecting foaming performance or even causing complete ineffectiveness. Return the material to the recommended operating temperature (typically 15°C-25°C) before use.
Humidity:
Store in a dry place. Humid conditions can cause moisture absorption and clogging of the valve or nozzle, affecting subsequent use.
Light:
Store away from light. Ultraviolet rays can accelerate the aging and decomposition of the material within the can. Avoid direct sunlight.
Storage:
Always store upright! This is crucial.
Never store upside down, on its side, or tilted. This can cause the propellant gas (such as propane and butane) in the can to come into direct contact with the foam material in the valve and nozzle, causing it to solidify and clog the valve and nozzle, rendering the entire can useless.
Ventilation:
Store in a well-ventilated area. While unopened cans are relatively airtight, good ventilation is essential for chemical storage safety.
Shelf Life:
Unopened foam foam typically has a shelf life of 12-18 months (the specific date is printed on the bottom or body of the can). Always use within the expiration date.
The better the storage conditions (especially if the temperature remains within the ideal range), the more likely it will perform well before the expiration date.
Post-Opening:
If the product is not completely used, immediately apply a dedicated cleaning agent or replace the dedicated nozzle cap (some products come with it). Follow the instructions to remove as much residual foam as possible from the nozzle and seal it tightly.
Even after treatment, the shelf life of opened foam is significantly shortened (usually only a few weeks to one or two months), and it is likely to clog or become blocked when reused. It’s best to use it up as soon as possible.
Safety:
Keep away from flames, heat, sparks, and static discharge.
Keep away from children and pets.
Do not puncture or incinerate the can.
