Sealant Usage Recommendations:
Always Read Product Instructions: Regardless of the adhesive you choose, make sure it’s clearly stated on the product sheet or label as “suitable for mirrors” or “will not corrode mirror back coatings.”
Surface Preparation: Cleanliness is crucial. Thoroughly clean the mirror back bonding area and the substrate surface with a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol to remove all oil, dust, and release agent, and ensure they are dry.
Spot Bonding or Bead Bonding: Typically, apply adhesive in a dot or bead pattern. Avoid applying adhesive to the entire back surface, creating a sealed cavity. This prevents moisture from escaping, potentially increasing the risk of corrosion or affecting cure.
Fully Cure: Allow the adhesive to cure for the required time according to the product instructions (typically 24-72 hours). Avoid moving the mirror or applying load during this time.
Small Area Test: If unsure, test the bond on a broken mirror or inconspicuous corner and observe for signs of corrosion over a few days or weeks.
