Technology for defense: Analysis of the performance characteristics of fireproof silicone sealants
The reason why fireproof silicone sealants have become the preferred material for fireproof sealing in modern buildings is due to their unique and excellent performance combination:
Excellent fire retardant performance: This is its core value. Through special flame retardant additives and expansion systems, it can rapidly expand several times at high temperatures (usually ≥1000°C) to form a stable, high-strength carbonized insulation layer, effectively blocking flames and high temperatures, and achieving a fire resistance limit of several hours (such as EI 60, EI 90, EI 120, etc.), meeting different levels of fire separation requirements.
Excellent elasticity and displacement capacity: With the high elasticity inherent in silicone materials, it can effectively absorb joint displacement caused by temperature changes, wind loads, earthquakes, etc. (usually ±25% to ±50%), maintain sealing integrity for a long time, and avoid failure of fire barriers due to joint deformation.
Long-lasting weather resistance and stability: UV resistance, ozone resistance, high and low temperature resistance (commonly -40°C to +150°C range), moisture resistance, stable performance in various climate environments, long service life, and no frequent maintenance.
Wide range of adhesion: Good adhesion to common building materials such as concrete, metal (aluminum, steel), glass, ceramics, stone, etc., ensuring the reliability and long-term effectiveness of sealing.
Environmental protection and safety: It is usually neutral and non-corrosive after curing; it meets environmental protection requirements, and produces low smoke and low toxicity when burning (depending on specific certification, such as meeting the smoke toxicity level requirements of GB/T 20285), reducing secondary hazards.
These performance characteristics make fire-resistant silicone sealants surpass traditional fire-proof sealing materials (such as fire-proof mud and fire-proof boards), while ensuring the safety of building structures and improving fire protection performance, providing a more durable and reliable sealing solution.
