How to use sealant?
The correct way to apply sealant requires following standardized steps such as cleaning the surface, applying the sealant evenly, and flattening the surface. The specific operation includes key links such as tool preparation, surface treatment, applying the sealant skills, and waiting for curing.
Tool and material preparation
Basic tools: glue gun, utility knife, masking tape (or paper tape), scraper (or card, finger sleeve).
Selection of sealant: Select a type of sealant with mildew-proof and waterproof properties according to the usage scenario (such as kitchen, doors and windows).
Glue nozzle treatment: Cut the tip of the hose into a 45° bevel to control the amount of glue to flow out evenly.
Operation steps
Surface treatment: Thoroughly remove the old glue residue and surface dust and oil, and ensure dryness.
Use a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth to assist in cleaning.
Protective glue: Paste masking tape on both sides of the area to be glued, leaving a gap of 5-7mm to ensure that the glue line is neat.
Gluing operation:
For the first time, squeeze out about 10cm of glue to expel air.
Move the glue gun at a 45° angle to the surface at a constant speed to keep the glue line continuous and the thickness uniform.
Flatten the seam:
Use a card, scraper or finger wearing a cot to gently press the glue to ensure that the glue is in full contact with the substrate.
Precautions
Curing time: After removing the masking tape, it needs to be left to stand for more than 24 hours to avoid touching or moving.
Safety protection: Keep ventilation during operation to avoid direct skin contact with uncured glue.
Tool maintenance: Clean the residual glue in time after using the glue gun, and keep the unused glue tube sealed.
